Software house in Lichfield, Staffordshire hello@trunkfield.co.uk

Bespoke & white-label

Built around how the work actually happens.

For organisations whose work doesn’t fit a product. We build software for one client at a time, or put our own products to work under your brand.

What we build

Mostly the unglamorous parts that hold everything up.

Watercolour detail of hanging willow fronds.
Internal tools
The system that replaces the shared spreadsheet, the tracker in someone’s inbox, the form that gets printed and scanned.
Portals
Places for clients, candidates or members to sign in, see where things stand and do what they came to do.
Integrations
Connections between the HR, finance and case systems you already pay for, so nobody types the same thing twice.
Reporting
Reports that build themselves from the records, instead of being rebuilt by hand each month.
AI features
Practical uses, such as sorting incoming documents or summarising case notes, with a person checking the result.
Data migration
Moving records out of old systems and spreadsheets without losing their history.
White-label
Any of our products under your name and branding, run by us.
Ways to work with us

Start small, then go as far as is useful.

Discovery

A short, fixed piece of work. We map how the work moves today and give you a written plan and estimate. It is useful even if you build with someone else.

Build

We design and build the software in short cycles, releasing early so your team can use it and shape it.

Run and improve

An ongoing arrangement where we host, support and keep improving the software, for a monthly cost agreed up front.

How a project runs

Three stones, in order.

  1. Discover

We spend time with the people who do the work. You get a written account of how it moves today, what we would build, and a costed estimate before any build starts.

  2. Build

We build in short cycles and release early, so your team is using real software and telling us what’s wrong with it, rather than reading about it in status reports.

  3. Cross

We move your people and data across, train whoever needs it, then stay on to run, support and improve what we built.

Questions

What people usually ask first.

If yours isn’t here, ask us directly.

Can you work with the systems we already have?

Usually. Most projects connect to something already in place, such as an HR system, a finance package or a CRM. We would rather connect to it than replace it.

Who owns the code?

For bespoke work, we agree ownership in the contract before anything is built. White-label products remain ours and are licensed to you.

Can you take over software someone else built?

Often. We read the code first and tell you plainly what state it is in before we agree anything.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of the crossing. Discovery is a short, fixed piece of work, and it ends with a written estimate for the build.

Who runs it once it’s live?

We can, and most clients prefer that. If you would rather run it yourselves, we hand over the code, the documentation and the knowledge to go with it.

Is it a fit?

Honest about who we suit.

A good fit if

  • Your team works around a spreadsheet, an inbox or a paper form
  • Off-the-shelf software almost fits, but not quite
  • You want one team to build the software and then run it
  • You would like one of our products under your own name

Probably not a fit if

  • You need a marketing website and nothing more
  • You want the lowest quote for a fixed specification
  • The project is research with no clear users yet

Tell us about the work.
